Safe and sound in Deadwood, a few loads of laundry and a hot shower, and update the blog and pay a few bills. Now it's time for bed.

Day 10
It's raining. The trouble with cross country road trips is that there are Very long stretches of road and not much to do. Yes we are travelling through some very beautiful and ever changing country but eventually just looking out the window looses some of it's facination. It is amazing to me how quickly we tire of something and start looking for something new, something bigger and better. Yesterday morning we were practically hanging out the windows to see the various displays of bubbling, frothing, spewing and colourful hot water springs and geysers. And by the afternoon we couldn't be bothered to get out of the truck! As Ned stated... It is just another hot spring. We wanted more, bigger and better. I find that is how I view life most of the time, I loose the appreciation for things. Once so shiny and new they become tarnished and mundane. I am rediscovering some of the wonderful delights of my family as we spend time together. I am laughing more, thinking up silly things to keep us occupied, hiking and biking. There have been lots of temper flares too, we have been short on sleep and stressed by driving up (or down) crazy mountain passes with cows standing on the side of the road in a hair pin corner, poor directions from the GPS and unknown places to stop for the night, and children who hate writing but must journal before electronics can be played. We are asking God for patience and grace with one another and experiencing His blessing each day. This morning was Ned's turn for answered prayers. When we asked him what he hoped to see in Yellowstone he said "a cactus". Really? Of all the things to choose. He is always surprising me, it is never the answer I am expecting. Now as we drove around it seemed we were about as likely to find a cactus as we were to find a wolf (read day 9), but there it was, this morning as we hiked up a hill to get some exercise before a long day of driving, a tiny spiny cactus! We never saw another and don't know if there are millions more or if it was the only one in the park, but we saw it and that is an answer to prayer. Now we are in the motor home, 3-4 hours to go and I am praying that a Starbucks will magically appear on the interstate so I can have a cup of coffee, but I have my doubts He is going to answer that one! Wagons ho! We are off to Deadwood SD to see some gun slinging and shoot em up, right there in the Main Street.
